*****

I believe that it’s our personal responsibility to enhance the lives of others. Our very existence is predicated on our ability to inspire and to engage the world with our individual talents! My particular area of understanding is in health and wellness and for years, I’ve been working to help the youngsters in our community understand their health better. On May 1, 2010, I encourage everyone to join me in the fight against childhood obesity!

May 1, 2010 from 9:30AM-1:30PM, I’m hosting DC’s first Yoga-Music Session and DC Fitness Challenge. We start with a 50-minute instructor led yoga session that is enhanced by live string music and rhythms. This will be an invigorating union of healing music and active movement and it is open to all!

Then, we’ll have the DC Fitness Challenge for fitness enthusiasts and experts trying to win the title “DC’s Fittest” and up to $1000 in cash and prizes. These contestants will be challenged with four timed stations in two levels- experts and enthusiasts- best time wins! If you don’t want to compete, just come get a great workout!

The author with Girls on the Run

The youth of today are the leaders tomorrow. We have to make sure they know how to stay healthy for many years ahead! This event will benefit both Girls on the Run DC and the Boys & Girls Club DC. I personally invite everyone to come be a part of the fitness movement and begin National Physical Fitness month off right for a great cause! Thank you for believing in the cause!

Category Deals and Discounts, Gyms, Personal Trainers

First, we want to extend a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our favorite Boot Camp (or “Bootie Camp”) trainer CHAD RAYMOND who has accepted the head trainer position at Stroga. (Mount Vernon Results members, fret not, you can still catch Chad teaching his noontime boot camp classes). Way to go, Chad!

We know that we have been crushing a whole lot on Stroga lately, but we want to pipe up once more about this amazing deal.

Stroga is offering 30% off one month of unlimited strength training (or yoga) classes. For non-members, this means that you can grab unlimited classes for just $175 instead of $250. Members pay $157.50 rather than $225.

Stroga is also discounting their fees for year-long unlimited classes: Non-members pay $2,100 for a year of unlimited yoga or strength classes (instead of $3,000), and members pay just $1,890 for the year (instead of $2,700).

Hurry! Act fast if you want this deal because it ends this Sunday, April 25th.

For more information visit Stroga’s website, or call their membership office at 202.238.YOGA.

Okay, here goes… confession time. Call me a narcissist, but I check out my derriere in the mirror whenever I can. I know it’s poor form, but after taking Chad’s boot camp class for several weeks, there is a noticeable difference in my backside. And truth be told, I can’t help staring at it. Seriously – there are muscles in there that haven’t perked up in years! And lo and behold – they are back in business! So I am all over the mirror like white on rice.

That said, I am sharing my latest bootie-toning tip from Results Trainer Chad Raymnd: Single Leg Planks.
