We couldn’t believe our inbox when we saw how many A.MAZ.ING Yoga workshops and classes were happening this weekend all over the city and beyond. If you don’t have any plans for the weekend yet, make them now and set an intention to do some yoga. Our picks are below, but we’d love to hear what you’re up to in the COMMENTS.

Friday, June 18
6:00 – 7:15 p.m. Cleveland Park Yoga(4321 Wisconsin Ave, NW) kicks off their new summer schedule with class tonight. All classes at CPY our for all levels of practitioners and your first class with the studio is only $5. Investment: $5 for newcomers, $15 for regular drop-ins

Saturday, June 19
1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Ashtanga Master Class: The Pearl of Power with Master Teacher Tiffany Cruikshank at The Studio DC (1710 Connecticut Avenue, NW). Join one or both workshops this weekend with Ashtanga master teacher Tiffany Cruikshank, the youngest woman ever authorized by Pattabhi Jois to teach his Ashtanga method.  If you are looking to take your asana practice to the next level, you will find an inspiring and illuminating program this weekend with one of the most proficient female practitioners in the country. Tiffany’s second workshop on Inversions and Arms Balance will take place on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Investment: $35 for advance registrants, $40 at the door, or take BOTH of Tiffany’s workshops for $65 (advance registration).  

Yoga is more than skin deep

2:00 – 4:30 p.m. Anatomy and Physiology for Yogis Workshops at Shakti Mind Body Studio (1302 9th Street, NW). Yoga is a journey of self-discovery and our physical practice is often a gateway for deepening our understanding of the landscape of our minds and spirits– but what about the body itself? If you’re curious about the workings of your physical body during yoga practice, join this two-part workshop. Taught by a physician, these sessions will explore structural anatomy (bones, muscles, basic biomechanics) and the physiology of the major body systems (circulatory, respiratory, digestive, etc.). Investment: $70 for both parts; part two takes place on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m.

10:15 a.m. Community Class at STROGA (1808 Adams Mill Road, NW). Catch Scott Carson for this fun weekly community class. If you haven’t had a chance to check out STROGA yet, DO IT NOW.

1:30 p.m. Donation-based Class at Flow Yoga Center (1450 P Street, NW) with Jeffrey Platts. Practice great yoga for a wonderful cause!

Sunday, June 20
12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Summer Solstice Celebration: 54 Sun Salutations at Circle Yoga (3838 Northhampton Street, NW). Celebrate summer, get energized, sweat out some toxins, and support the Give Back Yoga Foundation with 54 sun salutations during this workshop with Annie Mahon, Doerthe Braun and other teachers. You can do 4 or all 54 sun salutations–all levels are welcome. 100% of the proceeds from the workshop will benefit the Give Back Yoga Foundation, which supports yoga teachers offering yoga to prisoners and veterans, and in other underserved communities. Investment: $30  

Naomi Gottlieb-Miller

2:00 – 4:30 p.m. Sequencing Your Home Practice Workshop at Willow Street Yoga Silver Spring (8561 Fenton Street, Silver Spring, MD) with Naomi Gottlieb-Miller. So you have the space, the time and the desire to practice yoga at home, but as soon as you set foot on your mat, your mind goes blank. In this workshop, we’ll work on simple, effective ways to build a plan of action for your practice. You’ll learn how to warm up and cool down, and discover which poses are complementary to each other, as well as which poses are foundational to more advanced poses. For students Level I/II and up; also great for new yoga teachers looking to beef up their sequencing prowess!Investment: $40
